Example 1: Bob is buying ETH with USDC (ETH <- USDC) on ETH/USDC pair. This means that he is buying ETH using USDC.
Example 2: Alice is selling ETH for USDT (ETH -> USDT). This means that she is selling ETH for getting USDT.
In Standard orderbook DEX, ETH/USDT and USDT/ETH is counted as different pair just as CEXes. Each pair has its own liquidity with different orderbook spread.
In Standard, ETH/USDT and USDT/ETH are different trading pairs just as centralized crypto exchanges because they represent opposite sides of the same trade, with different base and quote currencies. Here's a breakdown of the key differences:
Base and Quote Currency:
In ETH/USDT, ETH is the base currency and USDT is the quote currency.
In USDT/ETH, USDT is the base currency and ETH is the quote currency.
Price Representation:
ETH/USDT shows how much USDT is needed to buy 1 ETH.
USDT/ETH shows how much ETH can be bought with 1 USDT.
Trading Perspective:
ETH/USDT is used when traders want to buy or sell ETH using USDT.
USDT/ETH is used when traders want to buy or sell USDT using ETH.
Market Analysis:
ETH/USDT is more commonly used for analyzing ETH's price in terms of USDT.
USDT/ETH is less common but can be useful for specific trading strategies.
Liquidity and Volume:
ETH/USDT typically has higher liquidity and trading volume.
USDT/ETH may have lower liquidity and is less frequently traded.
Order Book:
The order book for ETH/USDT will be different from USDT/ETH, as they represent inverse relationships.
Price Calculation:
The price of ETH/USDT is typically the reciprocal of USDT/ETH.
It's important to note that while both pairs represent the same assets, they are used differently by traders depending on their trading strategies and preferences. Most exchanges primarily use ETH/USDT as the standard pair for trading Ethereum against Tether.
The trades done via our Trade page are serviced via Standard Exchange.
